1. Scope

Video Game Tracker provides this website and a plugin for game discovery and personal library tracking in ChatGPT. Plugin accounts and libraries are separate from the iPhone app’s locally stored and private iCloud data; there is currently no automatic sync or import between them.

2. Information collected on this website

This website is intentionally simple. We do not ask visitors to create an account, submit a form, or provide profile information on the site itself.

This website uses Umami analytics, which may collect information such as:

• Pages viewed and page navigation patterns.
• Referring pages or websites.
• Browser, device, and operating system information.
• Approximate location information such as country or region.
• Aggregate interaction data such as navigation clicks, blog article clicks, table-of-contents clicks, related-reading clicks, outbound reference clicks, and App Store download button clicks.

Umami is used as a privacy-focused analytics tool for website traffic and website interaction events. It is intended to provide lightweight analytics for this marketing site.

5. Third-party destinations

This website includes a button that links to the Apple App Store so visitors can download the iPhone app. If you click through to the App Store, Apple's privacy practices apply once you leave this site.

Blog posts may also include links to external sources. When you open a third-party website, that third party's privacy policy and terms will apply instead of this one.

6. Data sharing and retention

Website analytics data may be processed by the analytics providers configured for this site and by the hosting infrastructure used to deliver the website. The site is intended to use analytics for operational reporting and content improvement, not for selling personal information.

Analytics data retention is managed through the settings of the analytics services used for this website.

7. Your choices

You can limit analytics collection by using browser privacy controls, content blockers, private browsing modes, or similar tools.

8. Plugin account and library information

Google sign-in and Firebase Authentication process your account identifier, email address, and basic Google profile information such as your name and profile picture. VGT uses your Firebase user identifier to keep your library associated with your account. We do not receive your Google password or request access to Gmail, Google Drive, or your contacts.

When you save a game, we store its game identifier, title, cover reference, selected platform identifiers, status (playing, wishlist, completed, or abandoned), and creation/update dates. We also store a VGT profile identifier and account creation date. The current plugin does not collect play-session notes, minutes played, or progress entries.

We receive the inputs sent to our tools, such as search terms, game identifiers, and requested library changes, and return results to ChatGPT. Connecting does not give VGT access to your entire chat history. Hosting and security systems may process IP addresses, request paths, timing, status codes, and diagnostic information to operate the service, prevent abuse, and investigate failures. Do not include sensitive personal information in game searches.

9. Plugin use, sharing, and storage

We use plugin data to sign you in, carry out your game and library requests, maintain your connection, and protect the service. Public discovery does not require a VGT account. Personal library reads and changes require an authorized connection. Essential browser cookies and short-lived sign-in state secure the connection; the sign-in pages do not include the marketing website’s analytics script.

Google/Firebase provide authentication and Firestore storage; Heroku hosts the backend; IGDB supplies game information and receives game lookup/search queries; and OpenAI receives tool results, including library information when you request it through ChatGPT. VGT does not send your Firebase account identifier or saved library to IGDB. These providers process information under their applicable terms and policies. We do not sell plugin account or library data or use it for targeted advertising.

Plugin library storage and backend hosting are currently in the United States. Provider processing may occur in other locations. Connection records, including tokens, grants, and sign-in state, are stored separately from the library and encrypted in our connection store. We enforce expiry when validating temporary records; expiry does not necessarily immediately erase a stored record. Revocation records may remain to prevent a revoked connection becoming valid again.

See Firebase’s privacy information, Google’s privacy policy, and OpenAI’s privacy policy for their practices. Data returned to ChatGPT is also subject to your OpenAI account settings.

10. Plugin retention and your choices

Account and library records are retained while your VGT account is in use, until you request deletion. You can disconnect VGT in ChatGPT’s plugin settings, or contact us for help revoking server-side access. Disconnecting alone does not delete your VGT account, saved games, or information already returned to ChatGPT.

Email the contact below to request a copy, correction, or deletion of your VGT plugin account and library. We may ask you to verify account ownership; never send a password or sign-in token. Deletion is handled through support rather than a plugin command. Limited records may be retained where needed for security, legal obligations, or resolving a dispute. OpenAI-held chats and iPhone/iCloud data must be managed separately with the relevant service.

11. Children's privacy

The plugin is not directed to children under 13. You must also meet ChatGPT’s applicable age requirements. If you believe a child has supplied personal information to VGT, contact us so we can investigate and arrange deletion where appropriate.

12. Changes to this policy

This privacy policy may be updated when the website, plugin, data practices, or legal requirements change. The updated version will be posted on this page with a new last-updated date.
